SHUNGIKU

Shungiku (glebionis coronaria), open pollination, annual. 30 baby; 45 full size. Aromatic, deeply lobed chrysanthemum greens.Cut greens when about 4--8" tall for a flavorful addition to salads, vegetables, pickles, and sushi. Edible, small, orange and yellow chrysanthemum flowers appear later on unharvested plants. Appropriate for Zone 5 and 6.

250 seeds/packet.

Sow from early spring through midsummer. In the south, greens are well adapted to fall plantings. For full-sized bunching, sow 15 seeds/ft., 1/4" deep in 2" wide bands in rows 18" apart. Harvest before flowering. For baby leaf, sow a 2" to 4" wide band at 60 seeds/ft. Clip young leaves when 3-6" tall.
