
Tallow (beef fat) can potentially help you lose weight. Before Crisco came around tallow was the most popular fat to cook with. People use it in recipes, soups and stews. Then Crisco came in 1911. For 97 years, Crisco promoted margarine that was healthier than the saturated fat even though it was a trans fat made from a vegetable seeds oil. They put it under high heats with aluminum to make it hydrogenated thicker and promoted it as a healthy thing for a very long time. In 1970s, saturated fats were blamed to cause heart disease. But now the research has shown that the vegetable seeds oil creates a huge amount of oxidation whereas saturated fats are very stable. So it is really the trans fat that have been creating the heart disease. For so many years we have been fed false data. Tallow actually creates very little oxidation.
